Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, 1926–. Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, 1952–.  Rare personal-content Autograph Letter Signed, Elizabeth R, two pages (recto and verso), 4¾" x 7½", on engraved stationery of Buckingham Palace, [London, England], March 24, 1960.

This is a rare glimpse into the personal life of Elizabeth II.  She writes to her midwife, Sister Helen Rowe, whom she affectionately addresses as “Rowie,” to invite her to the christening of her third child, Prince Andrew.  In full:  “Im so sorry to see that you have 'flu - I do hope you're feeling better now.  How clever of you not to have it until you left here! / You wouldn't believe it, but after much searching for dates with the family and the Archbishop of Canterbury, the only date that we can all do is - April 8th! / I am sorry, but perhaps Rosie will oblige by being either early or late with the baby!  /  Anyway - both Philip and I hope you will be able to come to Andrew's christening if you possibly can - at 3 p.m.  (He weighed 9-13 on Tuesday!" / Yours very sincerely / Elizabeth R"

Sister Rowe, who died in 1966, attended the births of all four of the Queens children.

The Queen has penned the letter and signed in black fountain pen. The letter has one horizontal mailing fold and a faint bend at the upper right corner and is in very fine condition overall.

Unframed.
